In the United Kingdom, junior doctors are qualified medical practitioners working whilst engaged in postgraduate training. The period of being a junior doctor starts when they qualify as a medical practitioner following graduation with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree and start the UK Foundation Programme, it culminates in a post as a General Practitioner or a Consultant

We have both Foundation Year doctors ( FY2) who are in their second year post graduation and Specialist Training doctors who have already completed the foundation years and have decided to specialise in general practice.

The specialist training programme for general practice takes three years and we have trainees who are in their second or third years ( ST2 or ST3). The junior doctors have support from the GPs and are able to seek advice during surgery if they are concerned about how best to treat your problem.
